About the club
A Rangers supporters club has existed at the University of Glasgow, in one form or another, for decades. The present club was founded in 2013, over an impromptu meeting in the Beer Bar of the Glasgow University Union.
Its purpose is a straightforward one: to bring together two of Glasgow's largest institutions — Rangers and the University of Glasgow. Our members follow the one and study at the other.
In practice that means gathering regularly for matches, and undertaking charitable and social projects in collaboration with both the football club and the University.
The club is a registered Rangers Supporters Club with Rangers Football Club, and an affiliated club of the University's Students' Representative Council.
Who was R.C. Hamilton?
The club takes its name from Robert Cumming Hamilton (1877–1948): a prolific striker for Rangers, and a committed academic.
Born in Elgin, Hamilton came to Glasgow in 1896 to study teaching at the University. He signed for Rangers the following year and remained for the better part of a decade, finishing as the club's top scorer in each of his nine complete seasons at Ibrox. He captained the unbeaten side of 1898–99, which played eighteen league matches and won all eighteen.
He scored 35 goals against Celtic. It remains the record in the Old Firm fixture. For Scotland he scored fifteen goals in eleven appearances, four of them against Ireland in 1901.
He graduated as a teacher and later became a schoolmaster. He returned to Elgin in his later years, served on the town council for more than two decades, and was Provost for six of them.

Members meet at the Rosevale Tavern on Dumbarton Road in Partick before heading to the stadium.

Match Screenings
Matches are screened in the Beer Bar of the Glasgow University Union, on campus.

Charity
The club supports Ready for Uni, a Rangers Charity Foundation programme. Through workshops, mentoring and campus visits it prepares school pupils and college students for higher education, particularly those who will be the first in their family to go.

Socials
Freshers' events at the start of the academic year, the annual dinner, and regular meet-ups for games throughout the season.
